hi folks!

i'm back with a new interactive poem, my final project for the people's medicine school connection curriculum. as those of you who know me personally know, i've been studying community herbalism for the past couple of years. as part of my course, i had to partner with a plant and develop a deeper relationship with it.

the plant partner i chose was rose. i think roses are simultaneously overrated and underrated as plants. they're everyone's idea of a beautiful flower and they have many associations with romance, but the rose family is much better than your average double petaled bouquet pom-pom. in fact, many common types of berry are in the rose family, including my locally "invasive" rubus armeniaca, aka "himalayan blackberry." roses of many varieties are highly medicinal, including calming, toning, anti-inflammatory, and circulatory system-supporting properties. i wanted to take a closer look at a few different types of roses, their associations, and the things they make me think of in this project.

in putting it together, i used twine again, which is something i've really been enjoying experimenting with! i also created the pixel animations using pixel studio.
